Marton School is an exciting, caring, learning environment. We have approximately 190 children from N.E. to Year 8, and are well staffed with highly qualified teachers, and support staff.

The staff plan co-operatively, which ensures continuity and cohesion in the teaching programmes with emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy using an Integrated Curriculum to explore other learning areas. There are Special Needs and Special Ability groups catered for on a regular basis.

We also have a Kiwi Can Programme operating within the school, which the children attend approximately one hour per week.  Kiwi Can is a nationally recognised organisation that trains and facilitates leaders to work in and alongside schools in order to build children's, self esteem, team work skills, and respect for others and the environment through a series of exciting activities and lessons run by the trained Kiwi Can Leaders with the support of the Classroom Teacher.

Sport and Fitness are regular parts of our programmes and many children from Marton School play Saturday Sport either as part of School Teams or in a community based team. We are fortunate to have the Marton Swimming and Gymnasium Complex also on Hereford Street and make full use of these in the summer season.

The school has a Managing Behaviour Positively policy which is fully implemented by all teachers. We have also introduced the "Cool Schools" mediation programme.

Every second Friday is School Assembly day, attended by parents and run by the senior children. Presentations are given to children for both class and social achievements as well as sharing of class work.

The school is enthusiastically supported by its Parents and Friends Group, who meet regularly and support the school in a variety of activities as well as fundraising ventures.

We have a well equipped Computer Suite which is used effectively by children and staff alike, as well as computers in all classrooms. Our ICT programme is integrated into the curriculum to prepare our children for the 21 century.   As well as this our school is fully networked to better accommodate Computer education in the classroom.

Marton School is a safe, friendly community where children are able to grow in mind and body and feel able to take risks.
